ASBO replacement welcome
Dear Sir,
The new pilot scheme in Manchester, announced by Theresa May, that will replace the failed anti-social behaviour orders with a new ‘three strikes and you’re out’ format is long overdue and I am confident it will help bring down crime rates within the city.
ASBO’s have been a failure in Manchester because criminals soon learned that these orders could be repetitively breached without fear of prosecution while many saw their ASBO as some sort of rite of passage.
It’s about time we start giving these yobs and gangs the sentences they deserve by throwing them in jail after no more than three strikes, with no exception, so we can make our streets and neighbourhoods safe once more.
I do, however, have reservations as to how this new scheme will be implemented successfully if front line police forces are at risk of further cuts.
Yours faithfully
Paul Nuttall
