Public forests

Dear Sir,

I am glad to see that the future of Delamere Forest has now been safeguarded after an independent government panel has decided that as a ‘national asset’ it would be better off being in public ownership.

Our national forests should never have been put under threat of privatisation in the first place casting into doubt the future of tourism, public access and sustainable development.

I look forward to seeing more public investment in this vital natural resource in the hope we can create new jobs and preserve our natural environment.
