Need for Grammar school

Dear Sir,

The damning statistics that reveal that some areas of Merseyside are sending not even a single pupil to Oxford or Cambridge highlight the urgent need for a reform of our comprehensive school system.

It is simply not good enough that pupils in Knowsley are being let down so badly with even Russell Group universities, such as the University of Liverpool, also out of reach.

Knowsley is in desperate need of a grammar school where bright pupils with a willingness to learn can move forward with their education and not be dragged behind by those who don’t want to be there.

Until we have a grammar school in Knowsley, I fear that more and more bright school leavers will face not getting into a top university.
