Wind Farms a Costly Distraction

Dear Editor,

If Peel Energy representative Vincent Fraser QC is so concerned about energy security, why on earth is he pressing for the construction of 19 ghastly wind turbines on Frodsham Marshes which will rely purely on something as unpredictable as mother nature?

If the wind stops blowing, none of those turbines will produce even a single kilowatt of electricity. There is no way of accurately predicting the certainty of wind speed to an extent that you can shut down a conventional coal fired power station. I would hardly call that energy security.

Surely energy security is not just about where your energy comes from, but also to what extent you have instant access to it. On a frosty day with little breeze, access to wind power will be far from instant.

These wind farms will benefit no-one in Cheshire and will serve only to be a costly distraction from other cheaper, more reliable forms of fuel.

Yours faithfully,

Paul Nuttall
